What to do with all these pecans??

November 27th, 2010 at 01:34 am

Went to visit my nurse friend Eleanor who lives on a farm in Edgefield, and we met a kind lady selling wood furniture off the road and she let us pick all of the pecans that fell off the trees. My son was excited and kept calling them rocks! It was too fun! Exercise and entertainment all in one! Down here there's a pecan house they will crack your pecans for you. It was wonderful now what do I do with all of these pecans?

coconut pie, mayonaise biscuits, and chicken casserole...

November 22nd, 2010 at 08:07 pm

I found my Granny's church cookbook from the early 70's and am cooking 3 recipes from there to see if my dear Asher will enjoy any of them. We grew up in south Georgia and my precious Granny was an amazing cook. Today I think of her and will attempt my first coconut pie. Any suggestions welcome... Do you leave eggs out for a while or butter?

Saved $2.00 NS days and $9.00 at Kroger (used free Cheerios coupon). Will add $11.00

Trying not to be impulsive...

November 11th, 2010 at 05:20 pm

Today my son's father will be here from France to keep Asher for one week. It is my moment of weakness and I usually spend impulsively and smoke up a storm; However, this month I have to keep it together and refrain from this nonsense!
Are there any single parents in the same situation? The good news is that I have $99.00 left over from electric bill budget to add to savings and also $1.00 for a NS day b/c I will not give into the temptation once my son leaves, and also $30.00 left from the babysitter fund b/c I did not get called in today. Hopefully, I can stay on track this week.

saving pennies while keeping toddler from swallowing...

November 10th, 2010 at 06:05 pm

My toddler found a penny yesterday and before I knew it he had placed it in his mouth so quickly in the blink of an eye!!! Luckily he didn't swallow it! The goal is to save our pennies not swallow them. I love finding pennies! When I see in God we Trust it's a wonderful feeling.

Making chili for Asher tonight...my dear heart please eat mommy's chili. This coolness in the south makes me want to make something warm.

Saved 11.00 from tele and 2 more days of no smoking so 2.00. That is 13.00 to add. Thank goodness for that.

Attempting to cook steak on stove for my little carnivore..

November 8th, 2010 at 07:54 pm

I have had to go out and get some steak for my little Asher because this child just loves red meat!! Wow it is expensive for just 2 pieces! I don't care for red meat at all, but my 2 year old certainly does. His dad is French and everything is AMAZING. I certainly can't compete with a Frenchman's cooking, but how hard can it really be??

Saved NS day today and yesterday $2.00 and $3.00 savings using Kroger Plus Card.

Do toddler's like to hoard things?

November 5th, 2010 at 06:57 pm

My sweet son Asher lately has been wanting to tote his little animals everywhere even to bed and the first night was ok but it's getting out of hand. He has a talking Rex, a dinosaur he calls Saur, a plastic snake, Woody and talking Buzz and a blanket? So far we've had to round up the gang every night before bed. He knows when one is missing. This just seems silly.

I managed to save $3.00 the past three days for not smoking. So I will add that to the challenge.

Hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful fall weather it's lovely in South Carolina.

little boys and play kitchens...

October 30th, 2010 at 02:52 am

Yesterday I took my son to our neighbor Pam's house and she has a room for her grandchildren in it is a play kitchen and my little Asher loved it so much!! I researched them on the internet and they range from 70-350 dollars.
My mom called the first consignment and found one for 20 dollars that included 2 bags dishes. He is only 2 but instead of playing calmly like he did at Pam's he was clanging all of the metal pans together and raking everything off of the table! It put a smile on his faceSmile
Leftover one's to start challenge ($3).
